How to approach CSR during times of crisis?
Do companies still have the resources to maintain sustainable development and corporate sponsorship programs? The professionals involved remain quite optimistic.
The NGO CARE France and the consulting firm Be-linked Business & Community Intelligence surveyed a panel of 300 professionals (representing philanthropy, sustainable development, or executive management) regarding the impact of the crisis on their sustainable development strategies.
For 45% of those surveyed (working in a sustainability department), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a potential response to the current crisis, “to restore or preserve stakeholder trust.”
In the coming months, the “governance” dimension—highlighted during the financial crisis (by 39% of respondents)—and the “environmental” dimension (29%) will see increased focus.
On the other hand, partnerships with NGOs or “societal projects” in the Global South appear to be more at risk.
