Essential Documents for Starting a Business
Starting a business is a pivotal milestone in the life of a young entrepreneur. This endeavor requires extensive reflection and thorough preparation. It is not enough to simply find a great idea; it is essential to develop a robust business plan and ask the right questions to ensure success. Naturally, this process demands significant time and a substantial personal commitment.
The Kbis: An essential document for business formation
The business formation requires several documents, such as the K-bis extract. Indeed, the entrepreneur must first obtain a Certificate of Incorporation before launching its operations. It serves as the company’s identity card, proving its legal existence legal. This official document is specifically designed for companies registered with the Trade and Companies Register (RCS), meaning it is primarily intended for merchants. In practical terms, it includes all the elements used to identify a company, encompassing the details recorded in the RCS as well as the company’s current legal status.
The Kbis extract includes, among other details, the company name, business activity, NAF code, legal structure, registered office, date of incorporation, and company duration, as well as executive identification, the name of the registry office, and identification numbers (SIREN, SIRET). Where applicable, decisions from the Commercial Court regarding insolvency proceedings (liquidation, reorganization) may also be listed. Regarding the document’s utility, it is required for opening a business bank account, bidding on public tenders, and purchasing professional equipment. In addition to this document, a certificate of registration from the Trade and Companies Register is also required. Finally, it is essential to begin building strong relationships with potential collaborators and partners who can help a company enhance its brand awareness. Once these elements are in place, the company is ready for incorporation.
What are the steps to obtain it?
Once the registration file has been processed by the registry, the applicant can obtain the Kbis extract. Initially, the applicant is the founder of the company registered with the RCS. This document enables them to complete the necessary steps to launch their business operations. However, they are not the only person authorized to obtain their company’s Kbis. As it is a public document, it can be requested by anyone, whether they have an affiliation with the company or not, including competitors. It contains information that is accessible to everyone; therefore, it is perfectly logical that the general public can access this information.
There are two ways for the interested party to proceed with the request. The first option is to request the document directly from the registry of the Commercial Court where the company is registered. It is also possible to obtain it online through a private agency or the registry itself. If necessary, a company can set up automatic periodic delivery of its Kbis certificate to ensure they always have an up-to-date version on hand. As for the cost of the document, it varies depending on the method of request, at approximately 2.96 euros for in-person collection and over 3.50 euros for online delivery.
