Log cabin construction

The solid wood house

Due to the size of the walls, a crane is required for their installation. Each piece must fit together perfectly; otherwise, the structure cannot be completed. The crane operator must therefore position each component with centimeter-level precision. However, the assembly of the house’s components can be completed in less than two to three days.

Timber-frame housing

The framework of a timber-frame house is constructed from wood. Next, the gaps must be filled with insulating material, such as glass wool or cellulose wadding. However, in the case of a timber-frame house, cellulose wadding is more appropriate, as it provides a effective insulation. At the same time, it helps keep interiors cooler during the hottest periods of the year.

The components of this type of housing can be manufactured in a workshop. Within one week, the house reaches a watertight stage. This is the “weather-tight” phase—meaning the structure is both waterproof and airtight.

The primary advantage of this type of house lies in the ability to eliminate the need for any foundation during construction. Indeed, the house can be built directly on the ground. However, to achieve this, the site must have low soil bearing capacity. If it is necessary to dig below 10 meters to reach hard ground, it is preferable to opt for the construction of a solid concrete foundation.
